The year 2011 has proven to be both remarkable and eventful for many of our chamber members. Our board
member Gwen Barbee, Independent Image Consultant and owner of Color Me Beautiful, was recognized as one of
the “Great Women of Texas” by Fort Worth Business Press. She also received a proclamation from the City of
Forest Hill for receiving her award in addition to being a resident of Forest Hill for over 32 years. After working
closely with Gwen Barbee, it is evident why she was selected.
Dr. Jerilyn Pfeifer, Superintendent of Everman ISD, hosted an annual fundraiser dinner for Everman ISD Education
Foundation, “a 501c3 nonprofit for student scholarships and educator mini-grants”. The fundraiser generated over
$35,000 prior to expenses. This is an annual event held on the first Monday night each November. Mark your
calendars now!
Dr. Pfeifer also brought her student choir to entertain members at our chamber holiday luncheon. Her love for
Everman students is very visible. Each time Dr. Pfeifer speaks of them, she exudes pride. Anyone can tell that they
are all her children.
Our annual golf tournament was held during the month of November. I want to give special thanks to our sponsors
and players. Also, a very big thank you to those who donated silent auction items for the tournament event. Many

I am excited to be a part of South Tarrant Chamber of Commerce. I came on board as Membership Coordinator
last September. As you can see it has been eventful so far, and there is a great feel of family here.
One of the things that impressed me most happened while I was sitting in a golf tournament planning meeting. I
witnessed one of our board members (while on vacation out of state); call another member in the meeting to give him
a business contact which resulted in a new client for him. This is truly promoting business. Our chamber is like no
other!
